The Parliament of Tasmania invites applications from suitably qualified people for the full-time position of Deputy Editor – Parliamentary Reporting Service (Hansard) to assist in the provision of transcripts of the House of Assembly and the Legislative Council, and transcripts of public and private hearings of parliamentary committees. The Deputy Editor provides direct support to the Editor of Debates in the provision of this service.

Deputy Editor – Parliamentary Reporting Service (Hansard)


Salary is a banded classification in accordance with the State Service Award B7 R1-2 $114,077 to B7-R2-L3 $120,116 per annum.

Appointment will be made by the Speaker and President acting jointly under the Parliamentary Privilege Act 1898. Conditions of the position broadly relate to those applying to State Service employees.

Statement of Duties

The position is based at Parliament House, Hobart. Additional hours of work are required during parliamentary sittings and other peak activity periods to complete daily transcripts. Duties are performed under high pressure to ensure the timely production of transcripts of debates.
