The Treasurer is a Government Minister with special responsibility for managing Government finances. Every year the Treasurer prepares the Budget, a document that explains how the Tasmanian Government will spend money on government services for the year. It also explains where the Government will get its money from. The Treasurer is usually an experienced Member of the House of Assembly and is chosen by the Premier.
