What is the curriculum content?

For primary and secondary classes, the lesson links Australian Curriculum Civics and Citizenship outcomes with the work of the Parliament of Tasmania, in particular the House of Assembly. The lessons focus on the main functions of the Parliament of Tasmania including the law-making process.

For Legal Studies students, the lesson examines the features of a Westminster parliamentary system as it operates in the House of Assembly and the passage of the legislation through the Parliament of Tasmania.

Is there a cost?

There is no cost to schools but bookings are essential. Teachers need to discuss the lesson content and technical connection issues with an Education Officer prior to the live online lesson with students.

What days and times are available for a lesson?

Subject to availability, online lessons are available most days.  The Education Office is aware most classes are operating under the constraint of bell times, so start times are flexible.

How long is a lesson?

Legal Studies lessons are approximately 60 minutes and primary/secondary lessons are approximately 45 minutes.
